Blood-sucking flies project

Introduction

This project aims to develop research on changes in bloodstains at crime scenes caused by bloodsucking flies . The research is already in progress in the south of the country (Paraná), through the student Ivana Popovicz (Uniguaçu/PR), and has presented very results_cc781905-5cde-3194 -bb3b-136bad5cf58d_promissores already in the first experiments. The research has technical support from Criminal Expert and Blood Stain Analyst Antonio A. Canelas Neto (IABPA Full member 3.950), from the Federal Criminal Expert Dr. Sérvio Túlio Jacinto Reis ( résumé )  e of the Criminal Expert and entomologist forense Dra Janyra Oliveira da Costa ( résumé ).

Purpose and motivation

With this research understand the behavior of these insects in a crime scene and which places are more prone to them to form illusory bloodstains, and which can lead to error of interpretation by the examiner (Criminal Expert), since these stains produced artificially by the flies are very similar to blood stains produced in criminal actions such as the impact of a firearm, for example . The objective of the research, then, is to better understand the behavior of these insects and their places of action, , in addition to better recording as most common characteristics of these illusory spots ( see more ) .

Crowdfunding Donations

The amount collected will be used immediately nos costs for obtaining a camera with a macro lens to record and file the bloodstains generated, in addition to acquiring video cameras that also film the behavior of insects with intention to subsidize further research in the future. Further on, it will be used for a expansion of the experiment with other environments, creating a line of institutionalized research on the subject either at this same university, or_cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b -136bad5cf58d_in other research centers in the country. We estimate the value of R$ 30,000.00 as a possible value for obtaining materials in addition to expansion and maintenance da line de research at first.

b) If the estimated amount proves to be lower after expenses, the remaining amount will be returned proportionally to the donors according to the amount of their donations compared to the amount collected.

c) There is no limit to the maximum donation amounts. Values that exceed BRL 5,000.00 in a single donation, may have the name of the company, or the donor, published as sponsors or collaborators in the research, if they so authorize.
